This has had many versions in my head over the course of the past year but this is the final version I am putting out/ brain dumping.
Art is a way of expressing yourself, in your own unique way, and your legacy sticks in that hobby and way forever, I’ll tell you, I have done tech for many years and it has stuck with me and it probably will continue to last me forever but I will be telling you how Sonic changed me as a person & a individual, so sit back, grab a drink and enjoy the show!
This is a no brainer to you if you’ve read my blogs or are friends with me on Discord, Steam or any online platform for that matter, but to sum up. Sonic changed my life, for the better. I’ve always been a fan for about 7 years now, but I’ve always wained at times due to franchise/series fatigue, I’ll tell you the story how I got into this franchise for the umpteenth time and have remained a fan since.
This story I’m telling you takes place in late May 2025, I am on holiday to celebrate a family anniversary event, I will not disclose due to me wanting to protect me and my family’s privacy, but I was in the arcade/amusement place mostly giving my shot on the grabber machines, because I have free will like that.
Picture this but it was a different one, but it’s the best I could find online whilst researching for this, but I ended up spending about 40 ish GBP on the grabber, after about forever and about 2-3 days of trial and error, plus persistence. I got my first plush. I still have it, and it was Sonic, but some shade of Green and Blue.

I decided then to try to get Tails, who is a character I see myself in a lot of ways, and after another bout of spending money, and a lot of persistence, over two days I finally won him and I was so happy, my reaction literally made everyone look at me. After watching a video on autism in video games, great watch btw, i can finally know why I see myself in Tails the ways I do.

I then arrived home from my vacation, and I start to engage myself within the Sonic fan community online with most of my encounters taking place on or within the Sonic Rumble Discord server, and other Sonic Discord communities. this is June 2025 for you and it is through this I meet some of my closest online friends, shout out CJReflex for being a friend for over a year now.
It is during this, I buy my myself Wallpaper Engine, in early July 2025, I had this as a setup.
Fast forward a few months and it is now mid to late August, and I had a desktop like this.
I also played in the ONT for Crossworlds, and I had such a good time in it, I’ll give that to Sonic Team.
It is now September the 4th 2025, and I see the Legacy Collection available on Steam on a good deal, I snag it and I immediately send it in a screenshot saying I finally got the legacy bundle on Steam, to one community I was very active within at the time.

I then started playing through the games at my own pace, until I feel I am at a point of needing “fresher” content, and I buy some of the games I wanted which weren’t sonic as I was still playing through generations (2011), I had saw and bought on November the 5th due to an anniversary I dare not leak. Fast forward to late December, it’s now December the 18th, and I buy Sonic Mania alongside other things. I also buy a copy of All Stars Racing (the 2010 one.) the next day. Whilst I was in route to vacation that day, I made a theory about a scene in Sonic 2 (2022).
Three days later, I’m on vacation, I decided, I’m gonna check the osu website, see if anything is going on out of pure spite and I see a notification in the message icon, I then click it to find it’s a PM from someone who commented on one of my shitmaps in-game.
At the time, I didn’t see this until the 22nd of December, I them ask them about collaborating on a map set of Endless Possibilities from Unleashed by Jared Reddick or whatever his name is, and some other maps I want to make and it leads to me adding the guy on Discord and talking about other random topics within gaming and tech. (Aqua, if you’re reading this, thanks so much for being a mapping friend lol). We then collaborated on a shared map set of the theme to Radical Highway Act 2 from Shadow Generations.
Skip forward a week, it’s December 30th, and I received a Christmas present of 300 GBP, I had 150 put away, which left me 150 for expenditures I wanted to buy games with, me thinking, I need to catch up on Sonic games, and I single handily buy almost all the games apart from Origins, TSR, and Superstars. I am currently balancing these games with other titles.
Skip forward a few months, I then buy Origins in March, and eventually Team Sonic Racing and Superstars in May. It is also at this time I had watched the first Two sonic movies, with the first one being around the end of 2021?. I then watched the second after a few weeks of it being out, I just didn’t watch the third one at the time until fairly recently. I then started with Knuckles in late March, and ending around a month after I began watching it, I ended liking the show so much I bought the disc set for it with my own money. I also liked both movies I bought the 3 movie collection, and watched the third, which I have had time to mull over my thoughts, it is one of the best movies I have seen in the franchise, the call backs to Adventure 2, a game I have never really gotten into, don’t come saying that it’s a game I should play, okay, it’s just not something I see myself playing. The locales, are really fun because you’re telling me, that they are in a Shadow scene in Japan and the next they’re in London, and the music, elite choice, a little bit of a spoiler here but if you’ve seen the Spotify playlists for the film, because they managed to get somehow The Prodigy within the film, with them being one of my favourite dance bands of all time, and it lowkey goes well with it it. The credit music is ass lowkey, but that’s Jelly Roll for you.
I feel really grateful to be a Sonic fan, managing to talk to creators I adore, heck I watch Computer Clan, and I commented on a tweet and they said they’d been a fan for I think half their life. I then felt it was right be in the sonic space, and what a year it’s been for me, heck whilst I was writing I literally got emotional because I love this franchise that is so dear to my heart. I just want to thank you all for reading my story. I know it’s a long one but I feel it’s very much right for me to share.
